10:39 am: Signed the offer!
The fuckwit just left, paperwork in hand.

It's funny how my expectations have changed in the last year.

Fall: We're gonna make CRAPLOADS of money! We'll buy a fab-o house in Western Mass, pay cash for a new car, and furnish the place with GREAT furniture.

Spring: We're gonna make GOOOD money! We'll buy a fab-o house in Western Mass and furnish the place with GREAT furniture.

Now: We're gonna do just fine. We'll buy a relatively fab house in Western Mass and furnish the place with our same old shitty furniture.

Oh well. 40% down ain't bad. 50-200% bigger ain't bad at all. An actual yard ain't bad either. We have no other debt, so we can take on a car payment if we have to, and we can buy furniture more gradually.

We'll do just fine.

Ohhh, I'm so happy for you... and I'm gonna miss you so much!

Although... there are goat dairy farms in Western Mass... I could switch to goats milk formula and NEED to pick up some fresh every other week....

I'm so happy for you, really. I am a bit sad for me. I don't mean to make it all about me. But you know me...

sigh

I can't wait to see your new fab-o home though: what money will buy you in Western Mass... dreaming.... congratulations!

we're not gone yet!

September 9 is the key date - that's the signing of the P&S. That's when the countdown really begins. As you know, any inspection always provides ample excuses to back out, if one is so inclined. Ours is next Tuesday.

Still, we are going to look at houses this weekend. Lots of good stuff to pick from.

Frequent trips for goat's milk sounds EXCELLENT. There's also a farm that sells organic, grain-fed meat in Shutesbury.

I would love love LOVE to go over listings with you sometime if you have time. But I do know how little of that a baby can leave you with! Do you want me to send you a link?

I can only imagine how you must be feeling. It is always a disappointment not to get what you were hoping for/expecting when selling (as unfortunately we know first hand), but it IS nice to be off that rollercoaster. I can't even imagine trying to keep the house neat and yourselves sane with a 3 1/2 year old in the mix. We had a hard time when it was just the 2 of us!! I'm sure it is quite a relief, and hell, 40% down and 50-200% bigger is FANTASTIC! Hopefully the rest of the process will go smoothly for you and you are able to find a great house without too much trouble.

The good thing is that the market in Western Mass is doing the same thing as Boston, so our relative purchasing power is the same.

The process does suck, however. So here's hoping the buyer signs off after the inspection next Tuesday!!
