07:15 pm: staycation wrap-up
Went to Boston. Stayed with my folks. Saw some friends. Did some work. Went to Museum of Science. Saw Roving Mars. Went to Children's Museum. Saw the Japanese House. Went to the office. Hung out with my folks. Stocked up at Trader Joe's. Came home. Got a cold. Splashed boiling water onto my nur. Started wading through email.

Not the most exciting vacation I've ever had, but we mostly had fun. It was great to hang out with my folks and to see friends. Teddy enjoyed the Museum of Science (though in truth he cared more about seeing OC and baby A than he cared about the museum). It was very, very crowded, which seemed to make him even more shy than usual (me too). He liked the Discovery Room (? the area where young kids can run around) best. He didn't like Roving Mars. I thought it was fascinating, but it didn't particularly benefit from being on Imax and it wasn't kid-friendly. At all. I think Teddy was expecting Wall-E.

We were hoping to hook up with OC and baby A again at the Children's Museum, but they couldn't make it. I got our family membership (6 free admissions every time! anyone want to join us next time we're in Boston?) and we wandered around for a couple of hours. Teddy was mostly pretty reluctant to get in and try things (crowds, again), but he proclaimed it the best part of vacation. He especially liked the 2 minutes he spent in the pilot's seat of the "rocket ship" (the airplane in the Arthur exhibit).

He was so excited to see OC and Baby A at Cabot's that he jumped up and down in the booth for most of the time. Very relaxing.

Teddy was very crabby Thursday night. I thought he was out of sorts because of the disruption to his schedule (both the vacation events and the fact that I was working in the office all day), but should've realized he was sick. We ended up having to skip music class on Saturday (I was sick too).

And I capped off my vacation week by splashing boiling water on myself, which is really not fun.

I trust I'll get my voice back on time for the Thursday night/Friday morning meeting I'm leading.

We love having you here--but hope none of the bad germs or luck came from us! Get well soon -- all of you. That's an order, and I don't issue many of them!

Sounds like a decent staycation and visiting with friends and family is always fun. Sorry about your nur - ouch! I hope you all feel better quickly. We have the sickies at our house now too and it isn't fun...

I'm always up for the Children's Museum. I love that place. And I'm sure Brad would be happy to be a playmate for Teddy--especially if Teddy likes dinosaurs at all...

awesome!

Teddy likes dinosaurs in books and on a small scale, but the big one in the Museum of Science scared the bejeebers out of him.

We'd love to have you join us at the Children's Museum ANY time. Nothin' scary there. :)
