06:38 am: Happy Blogiversary to meeee
5 years, really? I mean, 5 years of semi-coherent online musings means a whole lot less to me than 5 years of being a parent, but still: who'd've thunk I'd still be here, y'know?

I am very happy to have a record of most of my life as a parent, even in all its tedium. Every once in a while, I go back and read some older posts. I'm always reminded of something that I'd completely forgotten. That alone makes it worth it.

This year, too, Teddy could read it without any help. Not that I think he'd want to, but I'm hoping he will eventually. I started, after all, when I was so deeply moved by a letter my Mum had written about my brother when he was an infant

So. Yeah. Here I am.

Dear Mwah,

What is this inspiring letter? Guess I hadn't a clue. (So what's new.)

YoMaMa

The overwhelming emotion I felt when you were born is that I couldn't imagine (dum-dum mwah!) loving a second child as much as the first, and being deeply moved to discover that it's not that one has a certain amount of love to give, it's that one e-x-p-a-n-d-s and you have even more love to give than you ever imagined you would. It's still one of my most treasured discoveries. Growth. Ain't it just wonderful for parent AND child! (Okay, so I went from "one" to "you." My voice cracked. Sue me.

Thank you.

The letter was one you'd written to Kack. I assume Sherman sent it up with a whole box o' things (mostly pictures, some newspaper clippings, etc.). I found it when I was sorting through things to do that album/scrapbook for you.

Strangely enough, I don't even really remember what it said.
