09:08 pm: day from hell
Yesterday ended up being one big, giant bucket o' suck until just before dinner.

I've been on vacation (aka "vacation") since Wednesday, but haven't actually taken any vacation.

I had to cancel a massage because of everything else going on.

Peter was Mr. Crabmeister because of a dentist appointment (and, in truth, because of my nasty mood and Teddy's tendency to break down at Every Little Thing).

Teddy was extremely fragile because of all the excitement (his birthday, last day of school, another kid's birthday party, Grandma & Grandpa's visit, Christmas).

And I had cramps.

So I raced around like a maniac, got in fights with Peter, dealt with work insanity (HUGE HUGE crisis most of the day), popped a lot of pills*, tried to keep Teddy together, tried to keep myself together, BLARGH.

Work crisis resolved shortly before my folks arrived. We had a nice - if simple - dinner (I'd done all the prep the day before, thank goodness), Teddy mostly behaved himself with the giftage, and we went to bed early. Thank goodness my parents are fantastic guests.

WHAT a freakin' day.

* I take prescription-level doses of ibuprofen. I've told every doctor I've had since the one who told me to do so (his rationale was that it's cheaper to take 8 OTC pills than 2 prescription pills), and no one's ever blinked. When I saw a PA for my joint issues last week and told her, she kinda freaked out. Dunno quite what to make of that.

Current Location: Longmeadow
Current Mood: tiredtired

ugh, i'm so sorry this is how you started your holidays!!! i hope the rest of the year is much smoother sailing.

did the PA say why she freaked out? there are possible side effects from long-term high-dose NSAID use like high blood pressure and stomach problems, but if you've been on this stuff for a while i'm sure you're being monitored for that. she's probably just overly cautious...?

she didn't say...

And I didn't realize NSAID use could contribute to high BP. You'd think someone would've mentioned that. I'll ask the doctor when I see him next.

I've been on 'em for, what? 20 years? Since ibuprofen was prescription-only, anyway. Huh.

Anyhoo, thanks for the kind thoughts and needed info! Merry Christmas!!
