12:00 pm: Don't like it
Teddy clicks his teeth together, indicating he would like some more bread to dip in his curry stew. "Yummy yummy," he says. Another click, another bite. Another click, another bite, then... "Don't like it," he declares.

Teddy wants to be "off Mommy shoulders." He wants to walk (and inspect bugs, cracks in the sidewalk, and every. single. rock.). His "don't like it" is confusing, until we realize that he finds the sensation of having his pants pushed up to his knees uncomfortable (they slid up when he slid down).

"More tickle, more baby tickle Daddy," he tells repeatedly Peter as they wrestle. "Don't like it," he claims when he's ready to stop.

He wants to stand on the toilet while I do my hair, so he can pick out hair bands ("green! orange! blue! red!" -- he picked orange and black today). As soon as he runs out of things to play with, it's "don't like it!" again.

Don't get me wrong: I'm delighted that he's able to express his wishes so clearly. But I'm looking forward to slightly more specific communication ("I've had enough, thank you" or "let's try something else" or even "my pants are uncomfortable").

Enjoy it

Do you realize that my ss7 doesn't do this yet? He can't say, "More tickle, " then, "Don't like it," when he's done. He just freezes up, goes home, freaks out, and hmmmms and haaaawwww during this therapy sessions until someone figures out what didn't work out.

Your kid is amazing and brilliant and wonderful and lovely... and normal. I'd like to put my order in for one of those, thank you.

that's hard

I'm so sorry ss is such a challenge. I know he's delightful at times, too, but oy, those challenges.

You're welcome to borrow my kid ANY time. :)
