06:00 am: lather, rinse, repeat
I suppose I could make a case for lather and rinse - a bathtub-based case, of course - but mostly our lives are about repeat. The (endless) repeat viewings of the Construction video. The (endless) repeat plays of his Playtime Music CD (particularly "The Wheels on the Bus"; Teddy will stand and point insistently up at the boombox while requesting "BUS SONG BUS SONG BUS SONG"). The "ready, set, go!" dashes across the living room. The "2, 3, 4, 5, 16, 4, 5" jumps into my lap. Up and down and up and down and up and down. Back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.

The games are fun. The media have lost any charm they ever had. But the language? I never tire of it. Teddy repeats everything*, but not necessarily when we say it; instead, he'll use phrases sometime later, usually when we've completely forgotten having said something. Last night, he climbed down from the bed to "close door, bye bye," said he'd be "right back" (then disappeared), asked how "'bout this one" to select a CD, and eventually requested a game of "GET YOU!"

This morning, he was upset with me for being on the computer. He didn't tell me to "go away," which is a frequent refrain, or request "more bus," but claimed he had a boo-boo, then tugged on my hand and said there was a "problem here" to get my attention.

And this stuff happens every day - new words, new phrases, new ways of expressing himself. It's fantastic.

* So we're really, really trying not to cuss.
