06:00 am: I'm fwaying!
I asked Teddy if he would like to go to the big bed and nurse some more.

"I'm fwaying!" And indeed he is, with two trucks, in his big boy bed. In the dark.

* * * * *

More progress! No night-time nursing. His early-morning melt-down ("I want nuuuurrrrsssss! Don't like it drink! Nurrrrs!") shifted to 5:00 from 4:30.

I'm absolutely delighted.

You know what's funny about habits? Wonderful when they're positive--maddening when they're not. Sounds like ya'll have something marvelous started! Congratulations!

I'm not sure where the habit is in all this. When we've tried night-time weaning in the past, it's been clear that Teddy needed to nurse at least once (really, twice) during the night. He couldn't be soothed and wouldn't go back to sleep without nursing. I'm not a proponent of crying it out, particularly when morning diapers indicated that he wasn't getting enough fluids.

This time, he seems to be ready and able to go without. I think it might be because he's finally drinking milk and eating cheese during the day. (You may recall that he wouldn't do either for a loooong time.) He nurses like a ravenous beastie in the morning, but his first diaper is heavy.

In any case, I'm thrilled that he's doing so well with it!

Re: habits?

Always fascinating, these guys. I had, of course, forgotten all the hard facts about milk, etc., but I have to do something to honor my Grandma status! (Since I'm otherwise so very useful.)

Grandma Status

You are always very useful, and your Grandma status is never in question.

I'm just happy you're still reading this stuff!

Re: Grandma Status

It was actually a typo. I meant to write youthful, because although I'm very old, I'm still very funny! (And I'll never stop reading your stuff -- at least as long as I can read.) Freudian slip?

youthful <> useful

HA! That's a terrific typo.
