10:02 am: What's in it?
Teddy and I baked brownies yesterday. Teddy likes baking brownies, because there's always an answer to the relentless "what's in it?" question. And he likes brownies. So he mixed up oil and water and an egg, stirred the batter, and kept on keeping on:

"What's in it, Mama?"
"Oil and water."
"What's in it, Mama?"
"Oil and water and egg."
"What's in it, Mama?"
"Oil and water and egg and brownie mix."*
"What's in it, Mama?"
"Flour and sugar and cocoa and chocolate chips."
"What's in it, Mama?"
"Brownie batter."
"Eat it, Mama?"
"When it's cooked and cooled a bit."
"Watch Thomas, Mama?"
"Not until the brownies are done."

* Yes, we made brownies from a mix. I don't feel as guilty about the mix, per se, as I do about the fact that we already had the mix, meaning there was premeditation involved. And a coupon.

* * * * *

Teddy and I were reading the comics this morning. Adam@Home had a strip with a baby throwing baby food all over the place. Teddy said that "the baby's making a big mess," which wasn't exactly a rocket-science conclusion. However, I found his rationale fascinating:

"Baby doesn't like red bowl. His Daddy bring him different bowl."

In honor of...

In honor of Mama and Teddy Brownies, I made banana bread with real bananas... and cocoa... and dark chocolate chips... baked, cooled... then warmed in the microwave for 15 seconds until it becomes a warm gooey mess... but with bananas!

I don't know if I'll be able to visit this week. It may be next week Tuesday... Instead of talking on the phone, how about a skype phone call... do you have a camera on your computer?

dooode... you have packing to do!

We'll be on the Vineyard until Tuesday anyway. Much as we miss you, I assume you have other stuff to do.

Would love to Skype! We just got a camera last week. Peter knows how to use it. I'm staying willfully ignorant (loathing cameras as I do). I know Teddy would LOVE to talk to you. :) At least with a camera, you'll be able to see him wave.
