06:00 am: other vacation stuff
It was important that Teddy take a bath last night, because his hands were filthy.

Except soap didn't help. His hands are tanned. We've been putting sunscreen on them, but apparently not enough.

We went to see a house while we were on the Vineyard. $699,000 might seem reasonable for a house in Oak Bluffs that's 700 feet from the beach and has a wrap-around porch, a second-floor balcony, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, dining room, and eat-in kitchen... until you realize that it's not winterized (no insulation -- hell, no interior walls in most rooms -- and a wood stove, which may or may not work, for heat), the kitchen is awful (worse than our old one in Boston), and the lot is 0.05 acres.

Sunday afternoon, Teddy would. not. nap. He'd nurse, start to fall asleep, then wake up and nurse more. He'd then insist "I'm not fweepy! I'm awake!" while nearly falling over himself in fatigue.

It was a bad afternoon.

Teddy has decided that my mother is the Designated Video Person. If she sits down at the computer, he's right there, asking for the scary dancing clown, the funny bottoms, and of course Thomas the Tank Engine.*

He also decided that anyone sitting in a specific chair (the one my mother usually sits in) was Designated Reader. Someone would sit down, and he'd bring over a book -- usually Hug or Monster Trucks.*

My poor mother.

* Those are links. I didn't realize my links aren't all that obvious, and I don't have time to look up how to fix 'em. If anyone knows off-hand, please lemme know.

Being DR (designated reader) or DVP (designated video person) is a great joy -- wonderful to share, but I wouldn't give it up for anything. (Notice both require sitting. I can't imagine being Designated Dance or Exercise Person [DDEP?] )
