10:40 am: you have mangeen?
"You have mangeen, Mama?"
"What?"
"You have mangeen?"
"I'm sorry Teddy, I don't understand."
"You have mangeen?"
"I don't understand Teddy. Can you say it a different way?"
"What's this, Mama?" he asks, as he pounds on my National Geographic.
"Oh! Yes, I have a magazine, Teddy. Would you like to read it?"
"Magzeen. Please on the nose."

I'm working on the please on the nose thing. I love that he uses that sign very consistently, though he is sometimes somewhat sarcastic. What I don't understand is how he manages to say "please Daddy" with his voice, but "please Mama" always involves vigorous pointing at his nose.

This weekend, we've made some progress. He'll now say "please Daddy, please Mama."

One step at a time.

Two interesting mornings this weekend. Yesterday, he woke up saying "I'm sorry Mama! It's all my fault!" I have no idea what he was dreaming about, but I'm guessing he spilled cereal or bumped a piece of furniture or something. He's only that contrite for things that are truly trivial.

This morning, he woke up giggling. For that, he probably dreamed about kicking me in the head.

The mispronunciations are hard to resist sometimes, aren't they?

I love that part, but I especially love Teddy's work-around for my not understanding "mangeen." :)
