Teddy called up the stairs this morning: "I'm a cowboy!"

He was wearing his Elmo pajamas and a wide-brimmed hat with lizards, turtles, and frogs on it.

He knows about cowboys from the Kid Rock song. :sigh:

In other haberdashery news, he wore his firefighters hat (and the Elmo pajamas) in the car when he and Peter dropped me off at the train. He had to look straight ahead and wave off to the side because the hat brim kept him from turning his head.

Gearing up for Halloween, he likes to watch "scary" movies on YouTube, especially owls. There's a PBS special about a family of owls in an orchard that he particularly likes.

No, it's not scary.

He's decided that he's a special bird. He likes to eat imaginary worms and imaginary bugs. He's special because he also nurses. I showed him pictures of a duck-billed platypus, but he wasn't impressed. He's a chicken. A nursing chicken.

i love teddy stories. it's like seeing what i'm in for a year in advance. :)

do you let him play on the computer? colin LOVES the computer, and i've been looking around for preschool internet/online tools/toys/etc for him. i was wondering if you had any favorites.

i found one on fisher price where every time you press a letter you get an animal that starts with that letter. only problem is the voice that narrates it is the same one who sings on one of our toys, so i start having seizures when i hear her.

best bet is a Mac

Teddy's only allowed to play on the computer with one of us present, though Peter's been known to dash for the bathroom without taking due (computing) precautions.

There's a bunch of cool stuff on the Mac for wee ones, though the machine we have can't run 'em. Teddy's favorite is from the "Cars" movie (no surprise there)... he dashes to the computer playground when we go to the Apple store. After we get through all the moving activities (next spring, I hope), we'll likely be buying a new Mac for my music database, our wills, Peter's internet access, and Teddy's games.

One thing's for sure: don't bother with the Gund computer. It's really cheap and looks cute, but Teddy has never found it remotely interesting.

and I hear you about those voices!

and the crappy music, too. I was SO glad when the batteries on Teddy's potty ran out. Kicking that particular piece of equipment could've been dangerous. ;)
