12:40 pm: ambitious, or just stupid?
This morning, Teddy and I made ornaments, decorated the tree, made pumpkin bread, and started packing (on a very small scale) in the living room. When he wakes up from his nap, we'll be finishing the aforementioned ornaments, putting the wreath on the front gate, and, I dunno? Watching TV? I'm kaput.

In the midst of all this activity, Teddy told me: "I want to go to McDonald's with ghostes and monsters and spiders."

Of course he does.

Other conversations he's had recently, but not with me (boo hoo):

Peter: "Have some drink Teddy. It's like juice." (It was fruit punch, which really is nothing at all like juice, is it?)
Teddy: "Will it take away my teeth?"

Score one for Mommy! I've been keeping him away from sugared drinks with the "it'll rot your teeth" argument. Apparently he's been listening after all.

Peter likes to get as many free papers as possible, so he'll swing by the train station if it's kinda sorta on his way. The other day, he got four. When he and Teddy came to pick me up at the end of the day, Teddy said:
"You got 4 papers! You got that one and that one and that one and that one and that one!"

Many thanks to those who asked - the tooth extraction went just fine. Amazingly fast, actually. It took longer for the Novocain to kick in then it did for the tooth to come out. I left the dentist's office at 9:05, and my appointment was scheduled to start at 9 (I did get there early, but the extraction took less than 5 minutes... maybe less than 1... really fast, in any case). My evening with codeine was so totally not fun that I spent the rest of the night without painkillers, which was probably just as stupid as doing forty gazillion holiday things with a 3-year-old.
