06:00 am: Belated Valentines
Because of the timing, the company's off-site meeting had a Valentines theme. One of the things we did was bring pictures of our valentines and talk about how they inspire us.

I brought Teddy's picture, because his endless curiosity, his eagerness to learn, his wild imagination, his fierce hugs, his sloppy kisses, and his unconditional love inspire me every day.

We were only supposed to bring one Valentine, and I carry Teddy's picture around, so that was easy. But I don't want to forget my husband, whose foibles I write about occasionally, but whose loving gets less notice. His support lets me be who I am and do what I do - including working full-time while he's a SAHD. He listens when I babble, he does all the laundry, he gives me foot massages every night, he eats jam on his toast if it's time for a new olive-oil-based butter-substitute (he knows I like to dip my knife in first), he holds me and he loves me and he's my rock.

Sometimes he's my rock who hits me over the head or trips me up, but he's my rock.

My friends and my family are all Valentines, too. Thank you for your love and your support and all you do to help me enjoy and love life.

Me, too. (Teary!) And just think I didn't even send you a Valentine. (And when one of my all-time favorite memories was when you, in your crib, held up your arms for a good-night hug and said, "I wuv you, Mommy!" the very first time. Sigh.)

I still wuv you, Mommy!

And I understand better all the time how much you've done for me.

When Teddy says "I surely do love you, Mommy," it makes all the tantrums and tears and disgusting diapers and the uncertainty and the anxiety so worth it!
