Where did you begin 2008?
Boston, MA

What was your status by Valentine's Day?
Still in Boston. Still married. Spent most of Valentine's Day at a company off-site meeting... in Boston.

Were you in school (anytime this year)?
Only for a couple of days of training. Dunno if that counts. After 35+ years of formal education, I'm not signing up for any new degree programs any time soon.

Did you have to go to the hospital?
Only as a visitor, which was tough enough. Worse for the visitees, of course.

Did you have any encounters with the police?
Not even to get directions.

Where did you go on vacation?
Western Mass, mostly. A couple of long weekends on the Vineyard.

What did you purchase that was over $500?
A house. A mattress set. Some electrical work.

Did you know anybody who got married?
Yes indeed. And a lovely occasion it was.

Did you know anybody who passed away?
Yes, two. Very sad.

Did you move anywhere?

What sporting events did you attend?
None. Pathetic.

What concerts/shows did you go to?
None. Even more pathetic. I did go to the theatre for the first time in a while. Does that count?

Where do you live now?
Longmeadow, MA

Describe your birthday?
er... I don't remember. I'm sure it was lovely though.

What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2008?
Move to Western Mass. We'd been planning that for a couple of years, but before that it would not have occurred to me. I always considered myself a Bostonian.

What has/have been your favorite moment(s)?
Teddy dancing around the Christmas tree and saying goodnight to the ornaments.

What's something you learned about yourself?
I'm temperamentally ill-suited to selling a house.

Any new additions to your family?
No people, nope.

What was your best month?
It was a rough year all around. I'm hoping December will be the best. So far, so good.

What music will you remember 2008 by?
Assorted tunes from Teddy's play list.

Made new friends?
Not really.

Any regrets?
Sticking with our realtor, and taking her advice. If we'd dumped her at the first sign of idiocy, we probably would've sold the house for a lot more money... and we definitely would've saved ourselves aggravation.

What do you want to change in 2009?
Eat more local food (easier in Western Mass, I hope). Exercise more. Get back to dancing some. Embrace stillness. Do less hollering. Do more yoga. See more friends.

Overall, how would you rate this year? From 1-10?
About a 2. It was a crap year in lots of ways.

What would you change about 2008?
Quite a few things. I'd approach the house sale differently (see "regrets," above). If I had the power to do so, I'd certainly do layoffs quite differently. And there's a whole bunch of stuff I'd love to change about the economy, given the power and the opportunity.

Other than home, where did you spend most of your time?

Have any life changes in 2008?
Just the move.

Change your hairstyle?
It grew more. I didn't cut it, though it sure needs it.

Get a new job?
Nope. New duties, no new job.

How old did you turn this year?

Do you have a New Year's resolution?
Nope. I don't do resolutions. I try to assess where I am and figure out what I'd like to do differently, but resolutions don't tend to work out for me.

What was/were your favorite purchase[s]?
The house, definitely.

Get married or divorced?
Nope. Tempted, but the stress of moving will do that.

Get arrested?

Be honest - did you watch American Idol?
Nope. Never seen it. I did see a couple of dance shows, and found them cringe-inducing. Reality TV holds little appeal for me.

Did you get sick this year?
Yep. Nasty horrible flu bug just after Valentine's Day (the reason Teddy finally weaned: the nasty flu bug took away Mommy's milk).

Start a new hobby?
Not really. Got much better organized for some old ones that I hope to start up again.

Been snowboarding?
Nope. Didn't have the opportunity or the interest.

Are you happy to see 2008 go?
Hell yes.

Drank Starbucks in 2008?
Might've had a decaf or a hot cocoa, but I kinda doubt it.
