It snowed last night. Teddy has another cold.

I don't know how many storms we've had this winter, but the math is easy: Teddy's been sick for every single one of them.

The snow has stayed on the ground, so he's eventually been able to play in it, but he's never been well while the snow has been falling.

Poor kid. Four winters with 1-2 colds per winter, and now this.

Oddly enough, I don't have the most recent cold myself yet. I'm sure I will eventually. But then, I have no hankering whatsoever to go frolic in the snow. Watch him? Absolutely. Do it myself? Nope.

Of course, that could have something to do with my having been sick for every single snowstorm too. I've used my inhaler more this winter than I have for the last 5 years combined. One of my favorite things was always (until this year) to take a walk in the snow and come home and snuggle in front of the fire with a hot drink. And truly, I liked the walking very nearly as much as the snuggling.

I miss the impulse to walk in the snow, but not the walking. I don't want to be cold and wet and invigorated. I want to be warm and dry and lethargic.

Maybe I'm getting winter blues? I never have before, but there seem to be a lot of firsts in my life these days.

Oh well. I hope Teddy's well enough to go to school tomorrow and to frolic afterward.

With Peter.

Down but not out in Longmeadow

Sounds like yo' mama should make you some hot lemonade and comfort spaghetti (and take that kid out for a few hours whether he feels like it or not.) Long distance "promises" are wonderful, aren't they? I don't have to actually do anything-- just have to sound like I would if I could. And I would, of course. Spring is coming, so they say.

Thanks Mum!

I'll have to remember about the long-distance promises.

The kid thinks he feels like going out and would I'm sure be delighted to be taken out.

He's wrong, however, and I suspect you would deeply regret it.

This too shall pass!

And I sure do hope spring is coming, 'cause I sure as hell don't want too many more heating bills like our latest one. None would be good, in fact.

Well, it figures...

the family has had a very stressful season and then with school germs... holy crap, I'm surprised you're all still breathing!

That said, is there any way to boost Teddy's (and your's [yours?]) immune systems, like with washing your hands more often or taking more Vitamin C? Kid echinacea? full-body plastic bubbles? Introducing yourself with a hello and a quick spray of lysol?

We're in today, too much snow, the breadmaker is going, the crockpot has leftovers in it and we're dancing, and nursing (must be teething again) and de-cluttering (as opposed to cleaning, which stresses me out).

Hope you all feel better!

We're washing our hands a lot, but Teddy's still got pretty dry skin (little cracks all over his poor little fingers), so I don't want to go any more nuts with the hand-washing (we've got very mild soap with lotion and we're still slathering him with lotion as well). I'm pushing the vitamins and the oj, but he won't go near echinacea in any form I've found (tea and cough drops).

Gotta google full-body plastic bubbles. Maybe that'll do it.

I think we've just got to build up his immunities. No fun, but I hope it'll make kindergarten a whole lot easier.

:sigh:

We're planning to make muffins (lemon or pumpkin) when I'm done with work today. Not as wonderful as homemade bread and crockpotty goodness, but still reasonably wonderful.

Hey, how about probiotics? But not the green powder you had last time. Good brand, but I like it in their pill form better. But how about powder added to his yogurt, etc? Doesn't taste like anything. I add it to dd's potion for gut health, immune system health, helps with dipe rash from the inside out. Like this, as an example:
http://www.amazon.com/Chapter-Flora-probiotic-formula-powder/dp/B000OR3ACY/ref=sr_1_31?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1233206775&sr=8-31

Sorry, I just want you all to get better!

No kidding. That stuff is expensive! And when you buy it online for cheaper, you have to pay for overnight shipping otherwise the heat kills the bugs. Sucks.

Sending you good health hugs!

I wouldn't have known about the overnight shipping. Yikes! Will have to remember that...
