09:47 pm: Don't talk! I don't want you to say ANYTHING!
Teddy is crabby when I pick him up at school. He likes school anyway, but parting is that much harder because the last thing on the schedule before pick-up time is playground time. So he's a wee bit hostile toward those of us who end the fun.

It takes him quite a while to warm up. That's why we shifted schedules: Peter drops him off at school (when I tend to get tense because I worry about being late) and I pick him up (when Peter has trouble dealing with his recalcitrance). It isn't easy to stay calm and reasonable when someone is stomping and slamming doors and claiming he doesn't like you and you're mean and naughty and such.*

I usually don't get the scoop on what happened at school until we're snuggling before bed.

* * * * *

I had an evening meeting tonight. Teddy stayed up for that, and then on and on. Didn't got to sleep until maybe 9:30? Very late for him, anyway. And I missed the school scoop (snoring commenced approximately 10 seconds after lights out).

Here's hoping he sleeps past sunrise tomorrow. He's still got sniffles (lots better, however) and surely does need the sleep. Me too.

* For the record, I draw the line at door slamming. Foot stomping actually burns some energy and doesn't hurt anything. Door slamming gets on my last nerve.

It sure costs a lot more than tuition* doesn't it? And adults get after children for not being able to delay gratification. When are children going to accept their responsibility for delaying the gratification of adults?

*When did "tuition" get the "in" in front of it (joke)? And what an odd relationship from an etymological point of view!

Don't you just love when they tell you you're naughty? Jackson tells me I am naughty because I "take toys". Exactly what he is talking about I have no idea. Actually, I know he is referencing the Grinch, but I generally DON'T take toys so I'm not sure how I got to be so naughty...

maddening, isn't it?

Teddy was really, really sweet on Monday when I picked him up. He waved to me from the porch, called out "hi Mommy!" and was generally cheerful and talkative.

wtf? It was strange, but quite wonderful.

Then he got sick AGAIN and had to stay home from school yesterday, so I don't know if it's a trend or a fluke.
