07:00 am: I wanna eat your head!
A few months ago, I bought a new shampoo for Teddy. Dooce had recommended it as being very mild, excellent for kids who don't like getting their hair washed. I believe that's "all of them," but can only speak definitively for my own.

This stuff smells delicious. So Teddy and I have the same conversation a couple of times a week:

Are we going to wash my hair tonight?
Yes, Teddy.
I don't want to! I don't like to wash my hair!
Well, it needs to be washed. And after we wash it, I'm going to eat your head 'cause it's so yummy!
I need my head!
What for?
To think! And hold my hair!
Are you sure?
Yes! How about we split it? Did you bring a knife?

Hilarity ensues. And his hair gets washed.

Teddy had his follow-up appointment with his pediatrician yesterday. At his regular check-up, he'd had fluid in his ears (one showing the beginnings of an infection, though it cleared up before we ever got to antibiotics) and he was sick, so I wanted to delay his shots.

Oh! The Trauma! The Trauma of The Shots! He even allowed band-aids afterward (Teddy does not like band-aids).

He still (again?) has fluid in his ears (though no infection), which he has since (or repeatedly, dunno) since last October. So he's going to an ENT. First appointment: April 30.

I had such trouble with my ears when I was a kid that I'm a bit worried.

We got the schedule we wanted for Teddy's pre-K next year: all day on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning through lunch. We figure that'll prepare him better for kindergarten in 2010. His school does a kindergarten swap in the spring (the kids spend half the day in the public kindergarten and half the day at Montessori), which will help even more.

My little boy! In real school!

That kid is funny!

And his ears are already much better than yours! Your eardrum had ruptured by his age, with anti-biotics started at the beginning of colds -- after the first earache, I couldn't get you to the pediatrician fast enough! So fluid in the ears. NOT INFECTION. He's doing fine. And funny!

Re: That kid is funny!

He is funny, isn't he? I mean, I know I see him through Mommy-goggles, but I think he's a hoot.

I know his ears are much better than mine were, but his tonsils are large and he's had that damned fluid behind his ears (at least intermittently) for 5+ months.

Poor Teddy

I am not looking forward to our shots in 2 weeks. Sigh.

Nicolas HATES bandaids too! I thought he was the only kid who didn't like them. I mean the kid could be losing copious amounts of blood, but I better not even think about putting on a bandaid. Jackson, on the other hand, likes to point out imaginary boo boos so that he can have bandaids. Kids are so funny.

I hope it is nothing serious with Teddy's ears. I had GREAT ears as a kid - I don't think I ever had an ear infection. Luis, however, had the worlds WORST ears and apparently all my kids are taking after him. Grrr.

I'm sorry that you have to deal with the PITA of a kid who doesn't like bandaids, but I'm relieved we're not the only ones! I remember kids showing up in swimming classes *covered* with bandaids (I think some kids see them as another variation of stickers).

At least Teddy isn't the only freak.
