07:00 am: multilingual
I'd hoped to raise Teddy as bilingual: English and Czech. But Peter doesn't think in Czech any more, so Teddy knows a smattering of vocabulary and a few phrases. He also makes up words and claims that they're Czech.

He's picked up some Spanish from Sesame Street and Handy Manny (though I gotta wonder about «¡Hola, Mr. Lopar!»). He's learned French colors and body parts and some other random words... and corrects my pronunciation all the time (it's BLUR! hair is SUGAR!).

But the one that drives me nuts is his recent insistence on speaking in cat (surely exacerbated by seeing Kočka again on Easter). He wakes up meowing. He meowed intermittently during our walk last night, and only agreed to walk upright after I used all my persuasive powers.

And, y'know, man(cat?)-handling.

Teddy the world-renowned writer?

Maybe Teddy is the writer we've been waiting for. Some of us are articulate, drunk with words (like my favorite writers), and love language, but have no story to tell. Teddy has the imagination I envision in great writers, and he really gets into his stories -- which never stop coming. So, my question is this. Is it too much to ask the powers that be to produce both skinny genes and an author in the same body?

genetics could be tricky

but why not? There are skinny authors, right? (Hemingway notwithstanding, and I sure don't want his life for Teddy! EEK!)
