07:50 am: quick in & out
I'm back home for 3 days, then off to Long Island. Unfortunately, I somehow managed to delete the "schedule" doc that I leave for Peter (in which I tell him exactly what must be packed in Teddy's lunch, etc.), so unless I miraculously come up with an extra hour (or 10 minutes) in the day, Peter will have to wing it while I'm gone.

My birthday weekend was lovely, with occasional odd bits. We went in town to celebrate with my family Friday night. Lobsters, artichokes, and (somewhat inexplicably) huge quantities of McDonald's french fries. And chocolate mousse cake. Serious, serious yummage.

First odd bit: one of my parents' very good friends had surgery last week, followed by a small (?) stroke. His wife and daughter are staying at my folks' house. So there were extra guests at my birthday dinner. Which is ok, but I admit that I was seriously (and very immaturely, too) put out that the daughter said she liked my birthday cake so much she would have it for breakfast.

Hello? MY birthday cake. MY breakfast. :grr:

Yes, I'm well aware how idiotic I was being. But still! I met this woman AT MY BIRTHDAY DINNER. How idiotic was SHE being?

Anyhoo. Saturday morning, we watched my friend (whose partner is a hoarder - they were featured on the A&E show) on the Today show. Her partner is doing better, but still such a sad situation.

(We watched the show after I'd eaten the last piece of my birthday cake. DAMMIT! It was MY cake!)

Teddy and I went to Big Apple Circus, which was fun. It's beginning to feel kinda predictable to me, but I'll keep up the tradition as long as Teddy's still interested (though I probably won't spring for front-row seats again).

Afterward, we went to my office to pick up my new laptop (w00t! I say w00t!) and headed back to my folks' house for a nanosecond or two before I went to dinner with my friends.

I feel so fortunate to have such good friends in my life. I've known these women for, I dunno, 15-20 years maybe? I see them about 4 times a year, and we jump right back into conversation again as if we'd seen each other the day before. So we had a lovely meal and great conversation and they gave me lots of swell gifts (I've tried to dissuade them from the gift-giving - though not very hard - and everyone agrees that that's absurd).

Peter and my brother went to church on Sunday and we headed back home when they got home.

I'll scramble to get ready for my client event the next couple of days. So it might be a few days before I post again. Sorry!

How very insensitive!

It was Your Birthday cake and should eat it all! I always regarded my b-day cakes as sacred too... but I've also met people who don't agree. I think that's weird, myself.

But for having Just Met you, unless she was a teenager, you'd think she'd sway toward the more-polite than less-.

Glad your bday weekend was lovely! Miss you but belated Happy Birthday!

miss you too

I love to share birthday cake. After all, there's way too much for me to have myself. That morning, I gave a huge piece to my nephew and kept the last, small one for myself.

But yes, I did have that last one so that she didn't get it. I was digging my big ol' 5-year-old heels (masqueraded as 47-year-old heels) in.
