04:06 pm: Ball
Teddy had his first T-ball practice this week and I was relieved to see that he's not the only beginner. He runs slower than average, catches about average (badly, though perhaps not as badly as I), and hits a bit better than average.

The reason I care is that I've seen how he is in swimming. If he's the worst swimmer in his group, he doesn't try as hard. If he's average or ahead of the others, he pushes himself harder. It's as if he gives up if he doesn't feel naturally good at something, which gives me a bit of the screaming heebie-jeebies. Of course everything won't come easily to him, so of course he'll need to keep trying and keep learning. But that doesn't seem to be his intuitive response.

So anyway, with other kids at his skill level, he'll likely continue to enjoy himself and continue to learn. Which is great. Even if it is a big time commitment and a bit of a pain in the posterior, I really do want him to enjoy T-ball.

We're supposed to go to the Rock Cats game tonight, but they're predicting 95% chance of rain at 7 (the game starts at 6:35), so I'm guessing they'll cancel (there's also a flood watch, yippee). Unfortunately, they don't cancel until within 3 hours of the first pitch, so while they could theoretically cancel any time now, I suspect they won't do so until after we leave for the game.

Or perhaps they won't cancel, and we'll get wet and cold. We'll wear a lot of layers.

What will you do if Teddy grows up a Twins fan?

suck it up, I suppose

And buy even more layers for games? Dunno.

I've only ever been a fan when I didn't have to pay for the tickets. I've never watched a full game on TV (baseball or any other team sport).
