07:35 am: Mothers' Day, etc.
Teddy was so excited about Mothers' Day* that he woke me up earlier than usual, despite our very specific conversation the night before about letting me sleep.

It's my own fault that I stayed up late reading (creepy book - alas, not a very good one - that I didn't want to give me nightmares). So I started the day on a rather grumpy note.

I rallied, I think, and ended up having a pleasant day. Teddy and I did a little gardening. Peter went off to the hardware store to pick up some things and (presumably because of the holiday) didn't give me too much grief about it.

Pathetic as it may be, I have to admit that the highlight of my day was the looong nap I took in the afternoon while Peter and Teddy were at the park.

Teddy has his first spring cold of the season. He stayed home from school yesterday because he had a low-grade fever and was somewhat lethargic. He still has the snot-faucet turned on today (particularly when the Benadryl wears off), but that's Officially OK with both his schools. I won't be shocked if we get a call to pick him up early, but we'll see.

It's the first time he's been sick since he's been sleeping on his own. It'll be interesting to see if/when I get sick. I used to sorta automatically (and almost immediately) catch whatever he got.

The Montessori Jump for the Heart fundraiser is happening again this year (last time!). Link coming soon.

* I think it's for all mothers and therefore the apostrophe goes with the plural. Pffft.

I think I heard a mom say on NPR that the best Mothers Day gift for her would be time away from her husband and kids! I asked to go to the Chicago Botanic Garden for the day. We did. While I loved (and always do) being there, the kids were particularly annoying. I still had a good time. Plus I had Miles alone for the first part of the weekend and he is a total blast to hang out with! :-)

sad, perhaps, but true!

I love being a Mom, I really do, but non-Mom times are rare treasures these days.

Teddy and I spent Saturday together and had loads of fun, so I like to think of it as my pre-Mothers' Day time. :)
