09:07 pm: gearing up for another week
The Officially Insane Teddy Schedule starts this week: hip-hop on Monday, play-date on Tuesday, karate starting Wednesday, swimming on Saturday, skating starting Sunday.

Because I am insane (also because I forgot about karate when I signed him up for skating... oops).

Swimming is non-negotiable and forever (or thereabouts), as far as I'm concerned. It's not recreation (although I hope he sees it as such); it's safety. Hip-hop goes 'til June, I think. Karate and skating are 8- or 10-week classes.

I just want him to have the opportunity to give activities a serious try. He attended a birthday party today at a gymnastics place (with a zipline! OMG! A ZIPLINE!) and wanted to sign up for gymnastics (I think he really wanted the ZIPLINE). Fortunately, their schedule conflicts with his (not actually difficult, now that I look at it), so we'll hold off 'til spring and see if he's still interested.

In any case, who knows what the hell will hold his interest? I need to research FIRST some more, to see if there's a robotics program nearby, but I no longer feel great urgency about it. That can wait 'til spring, too. He's already said he doesn't want to do Little League, so we should have time then. I hope.

And there's always Lego.

Still no word (by mid-December, we promise!) on whether my team is even on the short list for the trip-to-London award. Gonna be some mighty expensive flights if they don't get a wiggle on. Not many people based in London.

(er... people eligible for the awards, that is. I seem to recall - it's been so very looong :sigh: - London itself has a couple or three people based there.)

Current Location: Longmeadow

Alas, were my children scarred for life because they only had music lessons?
Affording all this may be related to the economic situation is not so hot, huh?

no scarring

All his classes are affordable (e.g., $59 for 10 skating lessons), which is part of how they were chosen.

I had ballet for several years too, remember? And choir. And camp. LOTS of camp.
