07:30 am: I'm FREE
Yesterday, I got approval from my surgeon to resume all normal activities, including lifting heavy objects (Teddy counts as a Heavy Object). I came home, scooped that baby right up, and carried him around the house. Rarely has anything felt so good. While I did pick him up some during my recuperation, I tried very hard not to (and felt guilty when I did)... It was wonderful to do the right thing for him without doing the wrong thing for me.

I may be fooling myself, but I think he was diggin' it too.

Teddy's sleep has been strange since my surgery... sometimes barely waking up at all; sometimes waking up often to nurse; sometimes waking early in the morning; sometimes waking late. He's been so consistent (at least in some aspects of his sleep) that Peter and I have been confused with all this change.

The last three nights, he's had a lot of trouble falling asleep. He's never had trouble falling asleep before (staying asleep is a whole 'nother thing). Each night, he's been awake until 9 or so, whereupon he falls completely asleep. Two of the three nights, he's wakened just once to nurse (the other one, I was in a Percocet-induced haze, and he seemed to wake up quite often... but Peter says it wasn't really that bad).

Last night, I realized that I was apparently out of milk (duh... nursing throughout the day after months of once at most could do that). It's only happened a couple of times before, so I didn't recognize it right away. So Peter went downstairs, got Teddy a sippy cup (and me a bottle of water). Teddy knocked back about 3 oz of water, snuggled up into my armpit, and dropped off for the night.
