05:56 am: Get Smart: The Next Generation
(although it may have skipped a generation)

Teddy was sitting on my lap, chugging his Duplo train* along the chair arms. He got to the end of the line, held the train to his ear and said "'LO?"

That's right: a train phone. Perhaps not as portable as a shoe phone, but more practical for long journeys.

Teddy's trains follow circuitous routes. That morning, he'd been chugging a train car along the edge of the bathtub. It was very cute, and kept him occupied while I was on the loo, but made a truly unfortunate, fingernails-on-a-chalkboard noise.

It was almost a relief when he decided the train should be stored in my panties. Almost.

Both Teddy's pairs of doggy pajamas are in the laundry bag, so he's currently in his dinosaur PJs. Or as he puts it: DINE-SORE.

We like to ease our way into the morning. Teddy prefers to start with an hour or so of intermittent nursing (a step I could happily forego, or at least condense), then start into the book rotation. This is not, as one might think, a rotation of different books into his lexicon. Rather, it is the physical rotation of any given book to examine it from different angles. It seems harmless and rather interesting, until he combines the nursing with the book rotation. Board books are not the comfiest thing to squish between the nurser and the nursee.

* "train" = Duplo (extra-large Lego) piece. Vaguely train-shaped, but otherwise not remotely a train. Generally referred to as a TRUCK, though sometimes a vlak (Czech for train). Got all that?
